2023 - A Year of Sustainability

How I'm Being Sustainable & Environmentally Friendly in 2023

You all know me as a lover of all things green... but honestly I have been really embarrassed by how not-green my business has been so far. Don't get me wrong, my footprint as a small business has been very small, but I've felt for a long time that (especially being a plant person) it's super important I make that small footprint even smaller.

So finally, as of this month, I have made some awesome changes!

I am so excited to share some new initiatives to be a more sustainable business by decreasing my carbon footprint and giving back to the environment.

Packaging Updates

The first big change is to my earring cards. Though my first run of cards were amazing to touch, they were expensive and collected a lot of dust. In order to cut unnecessary costs and offer more socially conscious products, I have redesigned and ordered new cards that are made of recycled and recyclable materials! They will be single-sided, and each order will come with a single care card of the same material.

Second, orders will be transitioning to recyclable cardboard boxes instead of tissue paper and bubble mailers. These boxes will be sent out in adorable green poly mailers for extra protection. These mailers, purchased from another woman-owned small business, are made of recycled materials and come with an extra adhesive strip to make them easy to reuse!

The Big Difference : Planting Trees

Packaging is great, but where I really plan to make a difference this year is through my new partnership with non-profit One Tree Planted.

Starting in February, I will be donating $1 to their organization for ever single purchase made. $1 = 1 tree planted in the Appalachian mountains. My goal for this year is to plant over 1000 trees!
